NHS 2017 membership

All documentation of hours is due to Ms. Seibert no later than May 1, 2018. Remember:
Returning NHS members must complete TWENTY hours of community service between May 1, 2017 and April 30, 2018.
NHS members inducted in October 2017 are responsible for completing EIGHT hours of community service between September 5, 2017 and April 30, 2018.

Joining the Danville High School chapter of the National Honor Society

All DHS students entering grades 10, 11, and 12 with cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 are eligible to apply for membership in the DHS NHS. A minimum of FIVE (5) hours of community service are required to apply. Students must complete an essay and attach it to the application in response to a given prompt. The faculty council reviews all applications and essays and selects the inductees. Any students not selected for membership are encouraged to see Ms. Seibert for feedback and are welcome to apply for membership the following year.
The application window for membership is June 1 - Sept 1. The 2018 application will be available soon! For more information about joining NHS, please see Ms. Rachel Seibert in room 228, email, or call 217.444.1653.

DHS Cafeteria Share Table
Volunteers are needed to help with the share table during breakfast and lunch each day. See Beth Brown, kitchen manager, to volunteer.

March 10 - Danville Symphony Orchestra 6pm
Volunteers needed to scan tickets and serve as ushers. Contact Andi Tarquini-Rossi at 497-1658 or to volunteer. Please wear all black. There will be a practice at 7:30 pm on Friday, March 9th - attend if possible.

March 20 & 22 - Parent-Teacher conferences at DHS
Volunteers needed from 3:30-7:00 pm each night to help parents find classrooms and deliver refreshments to teachers. Let Ms. Seibert know if you can help.

March 21 - St. James Food Pantry distribution
Volunteers needed from 4:30-7:30 pm. No need to sign up ahead of time.

March 23 & 24 - Danville Public Library booksale
Volunteers needed for set up on March 22, and the sale on March 23 & 24. Call Sabrina Henriques at 477-5220 ext 114 or at

April 17 - Blood drive at DHS 7:20 am - 3:00 pm
Students may volunteer for one class period to help with the blood drive.
Donors receive one hour of community service as well. Sign up with Ms. Seibert.

April 18 - St. James Food Pantry distribution 
Volunteers needed from 4:30-7:30 pm. No need to sign up ahead of time.

May 5 - Kennekuk Clean Up
Volunteers needed to help with the Keep Vermilion County Beautiful clean up at Kennekuk County Park from 9:00 am - noon. Lunch provided and prize drawings for volunteers! Go to for more information.

May 16 - St. James Food Pantry distribution
Volunteers needed from 4:30-7:30 pm. No need to sign up ahead of time.

Danville Farmer's Market - spring, summer, and fall
